July 29th, 2010Lisa and Nick – Trash the Dress Session
July 14th, 2010A few weeks ago I met up with Lisa and Nick again, for their trash the dress session. It was so much fun!! I’ve never done a trash the dress session before, and I was super excited for my first one. Most brides don’t want to ruin their dress, but Lisa was not messing around when she said she wanted to trash the dress. We started off at the fire station where Nick works, and we got to use the fire truck as our prop…..funness! Then at the park, Lisa decides she wants to climb a tree. So in her skin tight dress and heels, she shimmied up the tree…..quick too…..that was super impressive. Finally we ended our shoot at Newport Beach, where Lisa practically swam in the ocean….I was loving it! All I can say is thank goodness for my 70-200 mm lens, cuz I wasn’t gonna go in that water
I think the pictures turned out great, and if I was able to fit into my wedding dress again, I would totally do a trash the dress session too. Check out the slideshow, CLICK HERE!!

Extended Family Photoshoot – San Diego, CA
June 30th, 2010On Sunday, June 20th I joined the Jones and the Kopald family for a Family day party photoshoot. They were celebrating lots of things that day…so they just called it Family Day. There was of course Fathers Day, a graduation and 2 birthdays….that’s a lot of celebrating. The family was wonderful and I had a great time with all of them, and they even fed me cake in the end, which is a huge big bonus for me and baby
Check out some of the fun and silly pictures we ended up getting that day….and click here to view the slideshow.
Kyan turns 2!!
June 18th, 2010Last Sunday, June 13th, we celebrated Kyan’s 2nd birthday with a Wonder Pets themed birthday party. I can’t believe he’s already 2, it seemed like just yesterday that he was turning 1, and the day before when he was just a week old! Kyan is turning out to be such a cutie and now he talks so much. It’s a mixture of Chinese, English and gibberish, so it’s pretty hard to understand him all the time. His favorite show is the Wonder Pets, so Alen bought all the wonder pet stuff she could find online. We didn’t even sing happy birthday to him, we sung the wonder pet song….how funny is that. Although I think that’s the only song he knows right now
Check out some of the pics from the day!
This is Kyan when you tell him to smile….it’s almost like he’s making a eww face than smiling tho.
So Kyan has a strange obsession with shoes, mainly high heels, the higher the better. I think he likes the sound it makes when he walks. What really funny is that he actually walks better in them than without them.
The pinata looks as big as Kyan!
Doris and James – Engaged!! – La Jolla Cove
June 16th, 2010On Sunday, I met up with my friends Doris and James and their dog Teji for a little photoshoot at La Jolla Cove. I met Doris 11 years ago. We met when I was living with my friend at the time and he wasn’t home to hang out. Since we were both bored, we ended up talking on the phone then later hanging out ourselves instead and ever since that day we remained friends. Sometimes we won’t see each other for over a year, but whenever we do meet up, we pick up like we’ve always been hanging out, joking and laughing way too much.
I’m so happy for Doris and James that they’ll finally be getting married this summer. Congratulations you two, see you at the wedding!
I like this series of pics….it looks like Teji is thinking…”great they’re at it again.”
4 & 5 months Preggers and It’s a BOY!!
June 15th, 2010So I’m a little behind on my tummy pictures. I’m creeping up onto 6 months, and I didn’t even post 4 and 5 months. We are super excited to be having a boy!! Some of the names in the running are Aidan or Aiden (don’t know how I like it spelled yet), Brady, Caden (I know that rhymes with Aidan), Michael Buble Jr., Edward, Jacob and Charlie threw in LaDainian Tomlinson, Optimus Prime and Maximus. Okay so those last few names were a stretch, but you never know right. I’m also still trying to decide on what to do with the baby’s room. All I know is that I think I want it to look more modern than traditional babyish type stuff. But time is flying right by, and the baby will be lucky if the crib gets put together on time….eek. So far the pregnancy has been super good to me. No real morning sickness and everything has been pretty normal. I already feel super big, but I know I’ll only get bigger….sigh. No funny cravings, tho I do love turkey sandwiches on a certain wheat bread with mayonnaise and cucumbers, and potato salad on the side. Of course a piece of chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream always sounds good to me too, but I haven’t caved in on that yet. So here are pics of me and my tummy…stay tuned for more tummy pics soon!

Lanchi & DeGuan’s Wedding – Huntington Beach Hilton Waterfront Hotel
June 11th, 2010On May 29th, I had the pleasure again of second shooting with Pye from Lin and Jirsa Photography. We first started the day at the bride’s house where they did the traditional morning ceremony. In the Chinese and Vietnamese culture the wedding ceremony actually takes place in the morning. The Groom arrives at the bride’s home and there are gifts given to the bride’s family as a symbolic gesture. There is also praying to bless the marriage and honor those who are not with us. Both sides of the family also have representatives to speak for each sides families and the union is formed. However nowadays couples will not only honor the Asian traditions but they also have an American ceremony and that took place at the beautiful Hilton Waterfront Hotel in Huntington Beach. It was my first time meeting Lanchi and De, and they are the sweetest couple. They met in Boston while Lanchi was there getting her college degree. Then unfortunately she had to move all the way back to California. But with commitment and hard work they made the long distance relationship work and now they get too live happily ever after. They are quiet and reserved, but yet fun and silly at the same time. It was a very emotional ceremony and there were some great speeches that night and you could just feel the love that surrounded the couple and how happy everyone was for them. Congratulations Lanchi and De!!
The groom chillin while waiting for the bride to get ready.
A little liquid courage before the ceremony, with the guys.

Lisa and Nick are Married!!
May 31st, 2010Last weekend May 22, Lisa and Nick were finally married!! Yay! And now they are one big happy family. I met Lisa last year. It was the funniest thing, we met, because she interviewed me for a graphic design job thru Apple One which is where she worked at the time. Well, I didn’t get the job, but Lisa remembered my portfolio with my invitations in it and gave me a call when she got engaged. In the last several months I’ve worked with Lisa on all of her wedding designs, from save the dates, to the favors all the way to the logos on her candles and napkins etc. Then Lisa decided to hire me to be her wedding photographer as well, and I had the honor of not only designing for her, but photographing all her memories from her special day. It’s been such an amazing time getting to know Lisa and her new family. Lisa is one of those people who you instantly become friends with the first time you meet her. She has a wonderful personality and a such and kind heart and I’m so glad that we became friends. I first met Nick and his daughter Addison when we first did the engagement/family session last winter. Addison is the cutest little girl who is full of energy and Nick is a very manly sort of guy….well he is a firefighter after all, but he is also has such a soft side to him, which you can totally see when he looks at Lisa and his daughter. They make the most beautiful family, and last weeks wedding was not only a uniting of 2 people, but it was the uniting of a complete family. Thank you Lisa and Nick for the opportunity to share in your lives. Congratulations!!!
We did the photo session before the ceremony at the Nixon Library in Yorba Linda, what a beautiful place!
Check out some of the pics from the day!! There’s so many details and photos from this wedding, that you might hear about this wedding in the next several postings, so stay tune!!
Lisa and Nick chose to do a First Look before the ceremony…..and I’m so glad they did, isn’t this series of pics adorable!
Another view from the perspective of my second shooter and best friend, Kimmy.
Nick and his daughter Addison.
Aww, it’s the picture perfect family!
This is Lisa, always smiling and laughing.
I like how Addison’s face always lights up when she sees Nick and Lisa.
